The Stunt Dog Academy is owned and operated by husband and wife, Chris and Suhey Perondi. They have been featured on the Queen Latifah Show, NatGeo Wild's World's Greatest Dogs, the CW's World Dog Awards, Univision's Sabado Gigante, the 2014 Rose Parade performing on a moving float for the Lucy Pet Foundation, and they have been featured in the news all across the country!
In 1998, Chris Perondi started the first disc dog club in Northern/Central California to promote the sport and to encourage people to spend more time with their dogs. He then created the world's first "Stunt Dog Show" titled the Extreme Canines Stunt Dog Show, producing many local shows with his talented stunt dogs including half-time shows for the S.F. 49ers and the Oakland Raiders, the San Joaquin County Fair, Dixon May Fair, LA County Fair, Kern County Fair, Stockton Asparagus Festival, the Stockton Ports; and most recently the Perondi's produced their famed theatre show at the Fox/Bob Hope Theatre in downtown Stockton!
Chris decided to take his show on the road and went full time in the live entertainment business in 2001, producing shows for major theme parks, wildlife parks, zoos, state & county fairs, expos, performing arts theaters, and half time shows for college sports and the NFL. He has also been a guest with his dogs on many talk shows such as: Ellen, Oprah, the Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Good Day LA, CBS Early Show, and Good Day Sacramento. You may have event seen his dogs in commercials or featured on Fox Sports "You Gotta See This!", ABC's Monday Night Football, or on Animal Planet's "Pet Star". One of his first professionaly trained stunt dogs, Soaring Sierra, was a finalist in the first season. His first stunt dog, "Extreme Pepper" won the Incredible Dog Challenge in 2000 and was second runner-up in 2001 in the sport of dog Frisbee. Since Perondi started training dog profesionally he has produced four dog training video's; two in which can currently be purchased direct from the Stunt Dog Production website at: (www.stuntdogshow.com).
Chris and Suhey met in 2008 and were married at Wine and Roses in Lodi, California on October 26, 2013. They have been touring nationwide together every since and train dogs for all dog sports including: Dock Diving, Frisbee, Agility, Flyball, High-Jumping, Weave Pole & Barrel Racing, Ball launching, and their famous Stunt Dog Triathlon! The Perondi's also specialize in training dogs to do incredible stunts, tricks and advanced behaviors like jumping rope, hand stands, back flips, hoops, riding a skateboard, and more.
Dierdra McElroy is a Texas A&M graduate and has been working with dogs for over 30 years. As an Animal Behaviorist, she has worked with law enforcement agencies when their working k-9’s have developed behavioral problems, trained service dogs for several agencies and created behavior modification programs for reactive companion dogs. She oversees the Therapy Dog program at St. Joseph’s Hospital of Stockton and makes weekly visits to staff and patients with her own canine partner. Didi, as she is known by most, is a CGC tester, Alliance of Therapy Dogs Evaluator and a certified Cancer Detection Dog trainer. She regularly does presentations for local clubs and organized groups on canine body language, cancer detection and reactive dogs.
Didi began competing her dogs at dock diving events over 7 years ago. She has been to Splash Dogs nationals for the last four years and titled her dogs in various divisions. Now she is the official instructor at the Stunt Dog Academy Dock and will be offering group and private classes in basic swimming lessons, swim therapy for post injury relief, dock diving basics and more advanced classes for those who wish to compete.
